What’s your go-to dish when you visit our local food courts?
One of our top choices is a good ol’ plate of Ayam Panggang (Malay for grilled chicken), served Indonesian style! Today, we would like to introduce Riverside Indonesian BBQ, which never fails to satisfy our palate for a delicious serving of traditional Indoneisan grilled chicken.

Riverside Indonesian BBQ offers a variety of grilled mains including chicken, fish, squid and curry chicken, just to name a few. What’s even more compelling for customers to pick this stall over others? All the items on the menu come in a set – you get your main, a perfect runny sunny-side-up (some stalls serve fried egg instead), and a healthy serving of vegetables!

For those of you born in the ‘80s, you might have recalled that there used to be a famous Riverside Indonesian BBQ Restaurant opposite Clarke Quay, right along the stretch where Cafe Iguana and Brewerkz reside. The Riverside stalls you now see in food courts belong to the same boss!
We personally feel that the food here is really value for money (~$5+ for a set) and the serving is really decent; most of the chicken thighs tend to be pretty huge. Their signature chili is also a must-have – it’s a perfect balance of sweetness and spiciness, with anchovies inside as well!
Riverside Indonesian BBQ can be found in several food courts around the island (see below for locations). If you want the authentic experience, make sure you keep a lookout for Riverside’s signature logo on its signboards. We’ve been informed that there are quite a few Indonesian BBQ stalls at certain food courts that serve similar items, but do not belong to Riverside! So, as hungry as you may be, keep your eyes peeled for the “RS” logo!
Feel free to drop us a note if you know if any other stores! :)
